August 1-7 is "Simplify Your Life Week" and lately, I've been on a journey of doing that personally and in my vocational work. Part of that effort is to think through what I enjoy and am gifted in doing, and streamline the resources I offer. I've come to realize that out of the many things I get to do, I enjoy speaking and teaching the most. I enjoy offering biblical and practical encouragement and have a heart for helping busy people--especially women--grow in their walk with God and in positive relationships with others.
Obviously, I can't do that personally with all the people God has allowed me to cross paths with while involved in two large churches and running HOPE Unlimited, an organization with a number of outreaches. So, the companion means I use when not speaking, is writing...and many of you have seen my book, articles, tips, and blog posts.
I decided to update my blog to better create a "virtual" environment where people could visit and "have a cup of coffee" to discuss a variety of life subjects and how our faith intersects them. I've also begun to simplify www.christianprofessionalwoman.com, and have extended a further invitation by also calling it www.christianprudentwoman.com. (We'll discuss the appropriateness of the word "prudent" in another post.) www.bethbeutler.com now exists to provide a means for those interested in having me speak to get more information. All of them still have "HOPE" (Helping Other People Excel) as their cornerstone.
The simplification and focus journey will continue for awhile. It will take time to continue to purge and "de-junk." Part of my natural personality traits lead me to be a creative dabbler. I'm not going to fight that completely--but instead hone that tendency so that it can be used to develop a variety of means to accomplish a more singular purpose in this season: to Help Other People Excel by encouraging them to stay close to God, and do life well.

I have been working on the same thing in my life. It's amazing how we don't use some very great tools without always thinking we have to have more. I am amazed at how innovative we can be when we simplify.
Thanks for these thoughts. We are in the process of simplifying our church. Leadership and staff are currently reading the book "Simple Church." It seems with all of our advancements we have made life more difficult, not easier.
