Waterfalls are bookending my week. Several days ago, we spent Easter in the mountains of North Carolina, visiting several waterfalls and enjoying a sunrise service at the top of Chimney Rock (well, to be technical, in the parking lot underneath it.) I enjoy being out in nature. It gives me a renewed perspective on life.
It occurred to me as I experienced thbe river in two extremes (a powerful, roaring waterfall that soaked me with its mist, and a meandering, gently flowing section) that rivers are a good analogy for life. They are certainly lovely when they flow along gently, between banks of lush greenery. But they are awe-inspiring when they hit an obstacle and push their way through it. Do you ever notice how the best (and worst) in people come out when they hit an obtacle? At your next challenge, will you exhibit faith, power and determination? At your next resting point, will you contendedly enjoy the ride, letting go of unnecessary pressure on yourself? Enjoy the ride on your river of life.
