Same Place, But Different

I'm at Spill the Beans again, but not at the typical time. Oh, it is Thursday, and I am looking out over a sunny Falls Park, but it's not early morning. That means my view is a little different. Right now, probaby because of spring break, there are several more people enjoying the park. Some picnicing on blankets, some taking pictures, some bikeriding, some walking, earphones in head. The other day, someone fell over the falls (he survived.) So this place can tell a new story every day.

It's rather interesting to modify the routine and come here at a different time. Have you ever considered doing something just a bit different to spice up your routine? It can change your perspective and insight, as well as your observation of life. Yet sometimes change is unsettling, too. I'm feeling that way about some things lately...I have essentially the same life, but changes are coming, particularly as my child, who recently turned 18, explores the beginnings of adulthood...thinking about career, new responsibilities and opportunities...we're the same family, but in a different place. Yet, the falls keep falling. Sometimes in a rush, sometimes in a gentle meandering. Sometimes the falls are comforting, sometimes violent (like for that young man who fell.) But they keep flowing--just like God who is always there and moving in our lives. Sometimes you'lll notice Him in a still small voice, sometimes in a rushing wind, sometimes comforting, and sometimes prompting change and exciting--and scary--new challenges. But He is the living water that never stops flowing and bringing life. May I gratefully continue to live in the apparent contradition of "same place, but different." Print This
