It's actually still day two, but I think that for Sundays, I'll do what I call "anticipated thanks" and focus on something spiritual or Sabbath-based.

My overall plan for Sundays is to take about a 24-hour period per week (perhaps sometime in the evening on Saturday through evening on Sunday) and stay away from email, Facebook, Twitter, blogging or other electronic interaction, even if I do happen to do other things on the computer during that period. I spend so much time on these things the rest of the week, I think it would be healthy to fast from all that information regularly.

However, if I want to stick to my challenge of a daily or near-daily post on thanks-living in 2010, I'll need a way to cover this weekly break. Thus, this "anticipated thanks" can do the trick.

So "today," I'm thankful for the idea of Sabbath. God purposely rested. I think He partly wanted to teach us that we don't have to go "full out" 7 days a week. I'm behind on my task list, and decided to take the first week in January to catch up rather than stress to get everything caught up by Monday. My Christmas decorations and lights are still up and I will probably just take them down a little at a time. (Some people leave them up through Epiphany, anyway.) So, I'm thankful that we can--and should--take breaks without feeling guilty. Sometimes that's hard for task-driven, achiever me. But's still a major concept in the Ten Commandments, and I'm thankful for that!
